Case Study: Electricool on the transition to a gas-free home
In the Wallonia region, installation company Electricool helped a family drastically reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. Through a well-thought-out combination of solar energy, a hybrid inverter, and a heat pump, an annual energy saving of up to €1,600 was achieved.
The Situation: High costs, low autonomy
The home, occupied by a family with one child, relied entirely on gas for both heating and hot water. With an annual bill of approximately €2,400, the customer's wish was clear: energy costs had to go down and living comfort had to go up, especially during the warm summer months.
Electricool analyzed the consumption and the budget and developed an integrated plan to make the home more sustainable without losing sight of financial feasibility.
The Technical Solution: Maximizing yield and self-consumption
Within a single day, the Electricool team installed a complete system:
14 solar panels (6.3 kWp): Installed in an East-West orientation. This choice ensures a flatter but longer energy yield throughout the day, which is ideal for direct self-consumption.
Growatt 5 kW hybrid inverter: This forms the heart of the installation and manages energy flows efficiently.
LG air-to-air heat pump (5 kW): A reversible unit that heats the living room in winter and cools it in summer.
Electric boiler: A smart addition to directly convert surplus solar energy into hot water, instead of feeding it back into the grid at a low rate.
Concrete and measurable results
The results of the intervention are immediately visible in the figures:
Annual production: The solar setup generates an estimated 5,500 to 6,000 kWh per year.
Savings: The customer saves between €1,400 and €1,600 on their energy bill annually.
Comfort: The home is now equipped with air conditioning and an efficient heating source, while gas consumption has been reduced to a minimum.
The customer confirms the impact: "Honestly, this changes everything. We consume our own energy and are no longer dependent on gas as we were before."
Partnership with ESTG
For the execution of this project, Electricool relied on the stock and logistics of ESTG. The partnership began in 2023, a year in which material availability was under pressure across the entire market.
"What we value about ESTG is their responsiveness," says the management of Electricool. "As an entrepreneur, time is a critical factor. We need a partner who is available and thinks along with us, even outside standard hours. The combination of competitive terms and reliable stock ensures that we can deliver our projects on schedule."
