ESTG and Justdiggit join forces for landscape restoration

Sustainable technology and ecological restoration

ESTG supplies the equipment for the European energy transition, from solar panels and energy storage to EV chargers and heat pumps. Reducing operational CO2 emissions is crucial to tackling climate change, but restoring nature is just as important. That is why ESTG is starting an official partnership with Justdiggit.

Through this partnership, we support projects focused on regreening dry lands in Sub-Saharan Africa. This allows us to combine the supply of energy equipment with a financial and social commitment to verifiable landscape restoration.

How Justdiggit restores degraded land

Justdiggit restores degraded landscapes in Sub-Saharan Africa using proven, natural, and scalable initiatives, including:

Earth Smiles (water bunds): Semi-circular pits that capture rainwater to prevent runoff, giving the soil the opportunity to recover and allowing dormant seeds to sprout
Kisiki Hai (Regreening): A technique where living tree stumps are pruned and protected, enabling them to grow back into full-sized trees
Grass seed banks: Maasai women manage grass seed banks to restore dry land while earning a sustainable income through seed sales

The results of this approach are measurable on site: returning vegetation enables natural carbon sequestration, restores the water cycle, and lowers local temperatures.
