Solar Fabrik Mono S3 360 W All Black (Half-Cut 1500V) make use of half-cut cells, which means they do not have 60, but 120 cells. They provide a power output of 360 Wattpeak. The panels are PID-free, in part because of tested and proven resistance to ammonia and saltmist.
Half-cut cells
This technology literally means the cells have been cut in half by lasers. This does not immediately lead to more power. The cells are only half the size, but there is twice as many. The advantage, however, is that there is less resistance across a cell due to the smaller surface area. This means there is less loss of power and therefore means the Solar Fabrik Mono S3 360 W All Black (Half-Cut 1500V) achieves higher efficiency. Another advantage is that when there is a shadow, a larger part of the solar module will remain working. This is possible because when there is shade, sections of a solar module can be ‘skipped’ to allow for maximum performance of the fully lit cells. The smaller the selectable areas are, because of the smaller cells and less surface area per string of cells, the more precise these measurements can be taken.
Potential Induced Degradation free
Several tests are performed, both during and after production. Different companies provide certifications when these tests are completed successfully. Every Solar Fabrik panel sent out has passed these tests. Some of these tests pertain to resistance to ammonia- and salt mist. Because of the different materials in a module, a potential voltage difference can build between the sections. This results in electrical current leaks, impacting performance and for example in conjunction with salt buildups could damage cells. Because the solar modules are proven to be ammonia- and salt-resistant, the Solar Fabrik Mono S3 360 W All Black (Half-Cut 1500V) will be PID Free, or Potential Induced Degradation free.
