Maximum efficiency from each solar panel

In most solar panel installations, a string arrangement is used, in which the panels are connected 'in series'. This string is then connected to an inverter, which converts the generated power into usable power.

Such a configuration may result in a panel mismatch. This mismatch occurs when the panels in a string have different MPPs (Maximum Power Points). This mismatch can have various causes and reduces the yield of the total string. The mismatch causes the panels in the entire string to perform just as well as the worst performing panel.
